Who Lives in a Pineapple Under the Sea?

This is my youngest daughter's favorite collection. She is obsessed with Spongebob. She can watch the show 100 times and never get sick of it. Her theme song is "Best Day Ever" sung by her beloved Spongebob.

I love seeing my daughter bounce around the house singing and dancing to this song. It fits her personality so well, since she is the most happy, positive person I know. For her every day is the best day.

So when this collection came out - there was no way I was not going to get it. I wish I could say this is the best collection ever, but I can't. I have a love/hate relationship with this collection. After 3 or 4 coats I LOVE the look of all the colors, but 4 coats? I think this is suppose to be a sheer color collection, which is probably why I need 3 or 4 coats for true opacity. I think you can also wear Rescue Beauty Lounge nail polish in Underware underneath this collection. But I don't have underware yet, so I can't say. I do tend to wear these over a neutral nude color, but I still need 2 to 3 coats when I do this.

With that being said my friend who is pale, absolutely hated all the colors in this collection. They made her hands look completely washed out. She couldn't wait for me to take them off her. For me I love the perfect yellow, coral and robin's egg blue I can achieve with these colors. And I think they make my olive skin look great! So you can see where my love/hate relationship stems from.

Here is the collection on my friend so you can see how washed out it made her skin look.

Starfish Patrick. I thought this one looked good on her, but she wasn't a fan.

Bikini Bottom. This one looked so light on her. This was three coats. I had to agree with her here, this one was not good on her. I can't believe how different three coats look on me.

Now here is the collection on me. I think this is a huge difference. What do you think?

Spongebob on me. This is my perfect yellow. I love how it comes out - but again this was 4 coats.

Starfish Patrick. Perfect light coral. Three coats to achieve this look.

Bikini Bottom. This is three coats. I can't believe how much more vivid this looks on me than on my friend. I love this blue, even though I hate the three coats it takes to achieve it.

So what do you think of a collection that requires so many coats for opacity?

Off topic a little, I have a few more pictures of some of the RBL nail polish colors that I took on my friend and didn't post here. Do you guys want me to post them so you can see them on pale hands? If so I will try and post them on here later for you.

Last Chance to Enter Give-Away
I also want to remind you all that the last day to enter the give-away for one of two complete sets for the surf collection ends today at 11:59pm EST. If you haven't entered yet, now's your chance. Click Here to for details and to enter

I also want to take a moment to discuss some entry issues. Some individuals stated they blogged or tweeted and didn't. I will keep all eligible entries, but will remove those who say they follow and don't, who said they tweeted and didn't or who said they blogged and didn't. I know we sometimes forget - life gets in the way - so I will keep the eligible entries if you said you did the three and met one or two - then you will get the one or two entries that are eligible. But I starred those that didn't meet it and will check those again tomorrow just to be sure I don't remove any eligible entries. I think this keeps it fair for everyone and hope everyone understands. Good luck for everyone who has entered!

  1. Aww I loved seeing these swatches! It was v useful for me to see them swatched on light skin as I am pretty pale!

  2. I think I can actually like these now. My skin and yours is similar. Thanks!
Also: I tweeted the contest the same day you posted it, but I didn't "@" you...Hope that still counts

  3. I have Square Pants, I still need Starfish Patrick and Bikini Bottom! I haven't swatched mine yet because I need a good nude basecoat.
Who lives in a Pineapple under the sea? SPONGEBOB SQUARE PANTS!

    I LOVE IT!

  4. Sounds fair to me! Good luck eveyone!

  5. I've actually heard both sides to this collection, too. I think they look great on you and I love the idea of the colors - they just look juicy! I wouldn't honestly mind giving them a go because I'm not really that pale and I could come up with a good nude basecoat for them.
And PS, I hope you could see my tweet! I couldn't figure out how to come up with the exact status, as I have only found that a couple of times by complete accident *lol* But I will do another tonight so that folks know they only have a day left - my user name on twitter is basically the same as my blog, magicmaid. :) Thanks!

  6. I have none but I'd love Starfish on account of the name. And the colour.

  7. I love the Starfish colour, its a shame they take 3 or 4 coats. I don't know anyone that likes sheers!

  8. skulda too funny - that song was in my head all day yesterday. After a day at the beach everyone is just laying around and of course Spongebob is on in the background. surprise, surprise.
