While at the salon I got to see two women choose Iconic for pedicures and one was planning a trip back because she wanted a manicure with My Kind of Cool Aid. That was pretty cool to see in action!
One of the things I learned is that women who go to salons have very different tastes that most bloggers and blog followers. They like the fun stuff too, but they also like twists on the classics and the classics themselves. I have been wearing a nude color I created on my toes for about a week now and I can't tell you how many people tell me THAT is the color they want. REALLY? Now don't get me wrong, I love nudes, but the only reason I am wearing it is because I hit my toe and the nail broke almost completely off. Since I live in Florida, I wear open toe shoes most of the time, so my toes need to be polished, but I don't want to attract attention to them with the broken nail. It seems to have backfired because everyone seems to love my nude pedicure!
Anyway why am I going on and on about this? See when I came up with Quench, I almost didn't add it to the collection because it's a red. You can get reds anywhere. But I loved it so much, I had to make it and share it with everyone. When I went to the salon I brought two of the upcoming colors that have been approved and will go into production hopefully this week. One of them is Devious Nature. I have been nervous about adding this color to my collection. It is a bright pink with some berry undertones. It is not a totally unique color, I will say that right now. But I made this color over the summer because I wanted a bright pink but I had to change it up. I didn't want a bubble gum pink, or hot pink. I wanted something bright with dark undertones. I never anticipated putting this one as part of the Cult Nails collection. This was just something I made for me. When I wore it however, I kept getting stopped by people wanting to know what I was wearing. The age groups asking and the types of people asking were all different. I decided that if that many strangers were coming up to me asking me for this color, then it had to become part of the Cult Nails collection. How could it not? Well I was a bit nervous and have been second guessing that decision since. Will bloggers and blog followers like this color? Will they think it isn't unique enough? But when I walked into the salon with this color, everyone went crazy over it. Not only that it was the one the tech wanted to try on me and she was wearing a similar color already! It is a one coater, and smooth and she loved the formula as much as I do. And I think it came out pretty darn nice if I do say so myself! No more second guessing myself. I love it and hopefully you will too!
So after ALL that babble, I present to you a sneak peek at Devious Nature! Here it is with no base coat or top coat. You know how obsessed I am with a super shiny formula! The salon owner told me I shouldn't focus on that since you should always wear a top coat. Yeah well I know, but it is an obsession, I want that shine without a topcoat anyway. Then I'll throw on my top coat and make it even shinier! HA!
(That color you see leaked all over the bottle is Cruisin' Nude. The bottle shattered on it's way here.)
Once at the salon the owner helped me get a little closer to the stiletto nail shape. She also used a tiny bit of Let Me Fly on the edges and a white polish as well. She wanted to see how well Cult Nails played with nail art. So you get a sneak peak of Let Me Fly in the bottle here. Wait til you see it on the nails!
Look how long my fingers look in this picture! It makes them look so weird! But it was too funny not to share!
I'll end my post with a mall makeover. I was going good until she added that hot pink lipstick - but hey look it goes so well with my new manicure!
And for those of you wondering, Devious Nature & Let Me Fly will release in late April or early May. So it's still going to be a little while before you can get your hands on these. :)
