I am getting A LOT of requests for Captivated in other colors, so you may be seeing a purple or blue version soon. I am working on one for another blogger, which if they can get right we might just see another flakie soon! It will probably be not the next collection, but the one after. All my friends and family want something THEY can wear, not all this crazy stuff. They want more colors like Cruisin' Nude. Um Quench, Devious Nature and in my opinion Iconic are all everyone colors if you ask me! Just sayin'.
Anyway, so you may or may not have noticed, but I am trying to put a good mix in each collection. (Is 2 collections enough to notice?) Basically my goal is to put out collections of at least 4 colors at a time. I may increase it to 5 if sales continue, just like I did with the last collection. So working with 4 colors, I want one "normal" everyone color, one edgy color that I love just for me, one fun out there color, and one wild card that can be any of the three. If I do 5 colors then that is just another wild card color.
But I SOOO want to do an all creme collection. I love cremes. I love the simplicity to them. I love the richness and shine. I love how it can take a far out there color and make it tame just by being a creme. But I know you hard core fanatics need more than that to make you happy, so I will hold off for a little while on an all creme collection.
I also NEED some basic everyone colors. I need a line that has the basics as well as the rest. That will be my best chance and mainstreaming my collection. The lab said I can basically give them any pantone color I want and they can create it in my formula. Nice! But creative? Not so much! I have talked to a few salons and they want the regular colors, the reds and pinks and corals and some other fun colors that are not too out there. The problem is that there can easily be dupes for these colors. Um hello, that's why they are basics! So basics are something that can help me mainstream, but can hold me back at the same time. But I admit - I WANT the basics too!
So what is my point you ask? Well, my point is, I am going to add one or two basics into the next few collections. These colors will I am sure have close dupes. I am not a miracle worker - in a land of hundreds of blues for example, I doubt that there is a version no one but me thought of! But I at least try. So I have been working on a few colors for several months now, and now I am down to the wire and MUST make a selection. I am going to put these colors out there and pray that another company doesn't beat me to the punch. If you had to choose which of these would you want released first? I am most likely going to release all of these, just not in one collection so that we can still have the fun stuff too.
Are you ready to help with some more Cult Nails decisions? OK so here we go:
OK, so this one is cheating. This one will definitely be part of a line. I think not the next one, but the one after it. I posted this one several months ago on Twitter. I LOVE this color! This was suppose to be Always Winning. Juan convinced me otherwise because there are too many similar colors to it. A decision I have regretted ever since. Don't get me wrong, I like Always Winning, but I LOVE this one! You know me I love me some shimmer polish and this green - I die! I already ordered this one, but they probably won't have it ready in time for the next collection. Boo! I just couldn't resist showing you guys! LOL! My kids hate this color. Oh well, you can't please everyone!
OK so now time for the decision
This one I am LOVING! OK I will probably say that about all of them! That's why I am having such a hard time deciding! LOL! I wanted to do my take on black. I thought glitter, I thought shimmer, but those have all been done. So how about a dark slate ALMOST black color. This is a rich shiny creme. It is almost black but not really. This one is number one on my list - I think...
I have wanted a yellow from the start! We started with banana yellow, but I really wanted a mustard yellow. I got it down to 2 sometimes 3 coats. I can't seem to do much better than that. All this work on a yellow that I thought would be in the last collection, has me yellowed out. None of my girls want me to do the yellow either. It truly is the color of a buttercup. So pretty and again shiny. But the earliest I would be able to get this one is mid Fall. A yellow for Fall? Will we be yellowed out by then? Maybe I should keep working on this one for the Spring? But seriously a yellow the color of a butter cup? Can you stand it?
If you have been following me from the beginning, you would know that I have a few absolute favorite brands. They inspire me every day. In this blog I actually did a post where I made a franken and said if ABC color and XYZ color had a baby it would be THIS color. (Still with me?) Oh how I loved that franken! I wanted it for the inaugural collection, but I could only do four colors and this one lost. But I still LOVE this franken. Just looking at this I think I am going to change my manicure now. So here I am still wanting to add the baby of two of my favorite colors to my line. It's kind of dusty, teal, grey, blue. And what's best is I think this one is neutral enough to wear to the office. Oh how I want this color! Oh wait I have this color - what I mean is oh how I want this color to be a cult color.
So what do you girls(and a few guys) think? If I can only choose one for an upcoming collection, which one would you choose and which one would you hold for the future?
Oh and since I am just putting it all out there, Juan & I discussed the possibility of having a Buy 3 Get 1 free be an all the time thing. Like forever. $10 a bottle or buy 3 or more bottles and get 1 free. What do you think? Yay or nay on this idea? (I think I know the answer to this one already - but don't get your hopes up. I want to make a living at this, so this would be a huge consideration for us!)
