My mind is still wrapped up in all that is Halloween. Even though by the time you read this, the night will be over. But I have to say it was a fun night. My kids all dressed up and then took off with their friends, so that was a bit bittersweet. They officially don't need us anymore. :( I was however, able to sit back and give out candy and enjoy the neighborhood madness. We had hundreds of Trick or Treaters tonight. We gave out about $50 worth of candy and then had to get the neighbors candy too! Thank goodness she still had some and was willing to share with us!
One of my favorite costumes from the night
Anyway, I also learned a very valuable lesson, which has nothing to do with Halloween. We re-ordered some colors that were running low and they came with Unicorn Puke. Our first priority was getting out everyone's Unicorn Puke out. Next up came the inventory of the rest of the polishes and rolling of polish burritos. Well we finally got to Devious Nature. I pulled a bottle out and realized the color is not right. Now if I showed you one today and put the other one on and showed the other one to you tomorrow, you would think - yup this is the same color. But when they are side by side they are clearly two very different shades of pink. Devious Nature is a hot pink that has purple undertones to it that make it less HOT pink. The shade they sent me is a perfect hot bubble gum pink. NO purple undertones at all! Close enough that I don't need it in my line, but far enough that it just won't do. The problem is that I didn't get a pre-ship bottle on these. When I do a color, once they have the color approved they send me one more bottle as a pre-ship before they fill the rest of my bottles. This is kind of like the last chance to make corrections. Since these were re-orders, I didn't think anything of the fact that they didn't send me the pre-ships. I just assumed they don't do that for re-orders. They didn't offer and I didn't ask. Now I have all these bottles of the wrong color. I don't know what is going to happen, we are working with the lab now. But I learned a valuable lesson. Always ask for a pre-ship - no matter what! Now I am hoping there is a solution here and that I didn't just lose thousands of dollars! Yikes! I'll keep you guys posted!
