Playing With Color

I'm trying to look at the items in my closet a bit differently and being a little more bold in my color selections. I'm thinking this is part of my next fashion evolution, finally all the bright colors out there are making me break out of my black and beige rut.

I have really been loving all the hi/low skirts out there and when I saw this one at Target for $14.99, I knew it was perfect for me. This one is navy and grazes just above the knee in the front and below the knee in the back. A lot of these skirts are super short in the front, but I wanted something I could wear casually and to work. I paired it with a bright red top that I bought around Christmas. When pairing this outfit I think my mind was still on all the Jason Wu for Target items I bought and so I chose the "belize blue" sweater I bought at JCrew a few years ago.

Will it surprise you to know that I bought this patent nude belt at Target too?

I bet it will surprise you to know that this necklace also came from Target! If I remember correctly it was $45 when I saw it the first time. There is just no way I was going to pay that. But I loved it so much, I kept going back just to look at it. (I have a slight problem, if I like an item, I do this little game of "visiting" it at the store saying to myself if it is meant for me it will go on sale to the price I am willing to pay for it, so I go back over and over until it gets to the price point I want. If it disappears, then it wasn't meant for me.) Anyway it went down to $25 and I put it in my cart and then put it back. I remember I had a lot of other household items I needed and I just didn't NEED to spend $25 on something I didn't know when I could wear. I left Target and instantly regretted not getting it. I couldn't get back to Target for about 3 days and so I kept telling myself if it is meant for me, it will be there. When I went back it was on Clearance for $6.97!!! SCORE! Totally meant for me and no looking back! That was last summer, and I finally just wore it for the first time with this outfit! Sooo worth the wait!

Sweater: JCrew Jackie Cardigan. They change the colors each season. I want the Neon Azalea one next.
Top: Express, Here is one from NY & Co that I want that is equally as cute.

Necklace & Earrings: Target. I couldn't find a necklace even close after searching for almost an hour, I decided to find a cute yet affordable alternative. Here's one from Macy's.
Bracelets: Alex & Ani
Shoes: Guess Nude Peep Toes. I bought mine at Marshall's and they always seem to have some nude peep toe pumps there, but otherwise check out all these options on Zappos.
