Rock Your Hair at Orlando Premiere

What an amazing weekend. When I look back at everything I did this weekend, WOW! But today I bring you Rock Your Hair at Premiere Orlando. (Premiere Orlando is an event for professionals in the hair, skin, beauty and nail industries. Select bloggers were invited to cover the event and I was invited for Cult Nails, which I will tell you all about in a separate post.) I went to Premiere on Monday. Most of the FL Beauty Bloggers went on Sunday, but I had some appointments there on Monday, so I didn't get to hang with all the girls. I attended the event with Kimberly and Kari and while we running between my appointments (Kari played my photographer for the day! Love her!) we stopped at the Rock Your Hair stage, where Master Stylist Michael O'Rouke was putting on this very Edward Scissorhands show of cutting hair. It was insane! Kimberly, who got to attend Premiere on Sunday as well, informed us the Courtney and Cristina got their hair done on stage. I thought man, those girls are brave! You won't see my ass up there! (check out their blogs - they look amazing!) Well as we were standing there, we came upon this stylist with the haircut I wanted and didn't get! I asked Kari to take some pics so I could grow my hair out a bit and get her cut. We ended up chatting up the girl since we were taking her picture and I told her how my hair got screwed up when I asked for what she had. I asked her if by chance she lived around here and someone around here cut her hair like that. She looked at me and told me to follow her and next thing I knew I was waiting in line to get my hair cut by Wayne Tuggle one of the Rock Your Stage Hair Stylists. (I had to do a little Facebook stalking to find out the name of the stylist who cut my hair. How weird is that?)

I had no idea where to look, but you can tell I'm a little nervous! LOL!
I have to admit I was a bit nervous, I wasn't sure what to expect, but how could it be worse than what I had? Up on the stage the stylist went to town on my hair. Oddly just a few days ago I was looking at my long hair from just a few months ago wondering if I had made a mistake cutting it. That angst is now gone!

While up on stage Wayne was instructing the cut, He stated the main mistake stylists make when cutting my hair cut is they basically cut the hair in a square. Which my stylist while cutting my hair was showing someone how to do it and she said she was giving me a square cut. Ahh now it makes sense. When he said "Why would you put a square cut on a round head? It's like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole." well that just explains everything. Their philosophy that they were teaching was "Angles in motion" where you style according to the shape of the head. I can't begin to tell you the difference this makes!
Sharing a laugh with Wayne. He kept talking to me while cutting my hair., I think to calm my nerves.
As I was standing there getting my hair cut a large crowd was watching, taking pictures, videoing and asking questions while getting instructed on the cuts that were happening on the stage. It was insane. After each cut we were brought off stage for blowdrying and styling and then brought back on stage. As the girls before me went it was like here is the hair, people clapped, cool next. I got up there and they pushed me forward and no kidding, people were friggin' cheering and clapping! At this point I STILL had not seen my own hair! But it had to be good right?
You can see I was still a little nervous, since at this moment I STILL had not seen the final result!
This is the first moment I saw my hair was in this picture! The rest of the day we were stopped by people wanting to take pictures of my hair (like we did to the blond) and asking if I cut it at the show. Every time I mentioned it was done by the blonde guy on the Michael O'Rouke stage, you immediately knew who the hairstylists were because they freaked out since Michael is so well known in the hair community. People even wanted to touch my hair and put their fingers through it. It was just too funny!

To style my hair they used Rock Your Hair Root Matters, Bombshell Big Hair Powder and Spray it Hard hairspray. The Root Matters is a spray you use while your hair is damp to give it lift and shape. The powder gives it a bit more texture and staying power. I don't know that I really need the hairspray, but they used it very sparingly. I bought all three products! When I did my hair today, I skipped the hairspray and my hair has lasted all day and looks like I just did it. So glad I bought all three products!

Today I decided to try to faux hawk just the front and I am still loving it! Tomorrow I think I will try wearing it down. The girl whose Faux Hawk inspired this cut, showed me pics on her phone of how to do it down. I can't wait to try that!
Black and white to disguise how Premiere hung over I still was today! Accomplished a lot, but a bit tired.
As much as I am loving this cut, unless I can find Wayne Tuggle and see him every 8 -10 weeks, I think I am going to call this cut a success and grow it back out. There is just no way I will trust this short style to anyone else.

This was just one part of my day at Premiere Orlando. I'll be posting more about it later this week. In the meantime, I can't thank Wayne and Rock Your Hair enough for Fixing the do.

    1. Oh yay! It is such a fun cut! I would like it a little longer, but in order to fix it, it needed to be this short. It should grow in perfectly though!

  7. Love this - and even the next day. That's a great cut if you can do it yourself and still have it look good. Maybe I'll see it at our next CFL Beauty Bloggers meeting!
