2014 is Here - Resolution Time!

So many things going on! So much to catch up on! I took some time off with the kids during their Winter break. I am finally back in the office, with lots of emails, and work to do. It feels so good! although my kids break doesn't end until Jan 7th, so it will be shorter days at the office, but either way, I'm glad to be back! I feel refreshed and ready to go!

We will be making some changes over the course of the year to the Cult, and to the blog. But for now, it's business as usual. 2014 should be a banner year, good or bad. My oldest graduates HS, John and I both turn 40 and he retires from the Air Force after 20 long years! That means he will have to find a job and we may have to move away from our lovely FL. You guys will get to take all these journeys and who knows how many others with us this year.

I did make some resolutions this year, which I don't normally do. Let's see if I can keep them!

1. Blog more! I miss blogging. I let someone bring the blogging side down for me in 2013. They found the blog after they found Cult Nails and commented that my blog was too personal and not professional at all. But Cult Nails was born out of a very personal blog, so I want to bring it back!
A nail look I shared earlier in the year.

Outfit of the day post. This is one of my favorite dresses. You can wear it multiple ways.

2. Do some videos, tutorials, just lameness, reviews, just do some videos.

I'm no makeup guru, but perhaps I will share my thoughts and what I do know?

3. Keep my work outs consistent. I slacked more than I would like in 2013.

Two of my favorite workouts! Silks and paddle boarding. I really want to do silks more! But the classes are soooo expensive! I got a deal on the classes, but now I can't stop thinking of them. I mean seriously! Look how cool that looks! But I digress…

4. One project a month with Juan. We just refinished an armoire, now to tackle some other home projects.
Juan made me a lighted vanity mirror last year. I took a bunch of pictures so I could post a tutorial and never did! So this kind of goes back to Resolution 1 too!

5. Make my house a home, where ever it may end up being.
I SUCK at decorating. But I finally decided it's time. I bought the couches about 3 years ago and have been trying to figure out how to decorate since then! The coffee table we have had for about 13 years or so. I have so many memories with the coffee table. My kids used to jump on it so they could be my height and dance. They would fly off it into our arms when playing. Heck Juan even danced on it for our 15th wedding anniversary! I think it's time to refinish it or get a new one. But I have such a tough time with these things. Heck we still have a temporary small chair until I can find a nice arm chair and it's been 3 years! I have to change out the pics on the back wall too. Ugh! I can do this!? (Oh and can someone please tell my kids to pick up their water bottles off the table!! It's a never ending battle!)

6. Grow the Cult community and keep it the awesome positive community that it is!

I have met some Culties in person and some online. A few of us even had a Google hangout one weekend just to chat! Man, we need to do that again girls! I loved that I was invited to the hangout!

7. Meet more Culties! Host more events.
6 & 7 Kind of go together. This was a Google Hangout we did where everyone could just type chat while a few bloggers (and Zero) got to talk about our favorite products. These are so fun! But I always feel like such a tool!

I think that's enough for the year, what do you think? What are your New Year's Resolutions?

  3. I love your blog, and the "personal" part is what makes it so fun! Don't ever let someone make you feel inferior or bad about it. Nuts to 'em. Let them go read something else. lol

And I hope you don't have to leave FL. I live in the Cold Frozen North (OH) and I'd give my right arm to live down there. Hopefully your hubby can find something in the same vicinity. :)

    1. Come to FL Jacky! I hope we don't have to move. This is my favorite place so far. I never want to leave! I will seriously cry if I have to go. But got to do what's best for the family.

  4. aww, that sucks that someones opinion got you down. Why do you think your loyal fans love and support Cult Nails? Because of you and the blog! I remember being so excited to read your blog everyday and loved the variety of topics you tackled, nail related or not. I am looking forward to your new posts this year :)

    1. Thanks Danielle. I definitely need that reminder to just keep doing me and forget the haters. I could get a million awesome comments and I would be focused on the one negative one. I have to stop doing that!
